Colour Play

I must say, I really liked the colouring at Jil Sander S&S ‘07. In my eyes, Raf Simons has always been a very easy trendsetter. He has made the label into a particular, articulate force of fashion, causing others to be overly captivated by his architectural placements and intentional misdemeanours. I was pleasantly surprised by the sudden shock of colour brought about to end the dry, English Gothic demure tactic Jil Sander had achieved last season.
It seems Spring won’t turn out to be a very colour-conscious season. It’s all about inserts, and bringing colour about to an outfit in a mathematical sense. Appropriate angles and seasoned cuts show the many layers of Raf Simons, as well as trends for other designers to pick up on.
I wasn’t bored at all. I felt as if I were at the collegiate interpretation of a 30-second Gap commercial. I even saw a hint of fake bake on the runway a la Natasha Poly.
Things were all in all kept very minimal, as is often the case, and occasionally shiny, which gives me the thought that perhaps we are finally allowed to kick up our clothes and add some funk.
So although the trends for our approaching months are not yet clear, I can say with confidence that we will not be subjected to back-to-back seasons of blasé hues and translucent hums.
